Guilford Schools Build Floats for Guilford Country Fair Competition in East River Energy Garage

Guilford, CT - The “energy” was contagious at East River Energy’s warehouse during the production of the annual school float competition for the Guilford Parade. East River Energy has been providing the warehouse space for the construction of the floats for more than 16 years. It has become as much of a local tradition as the Guilford Agricultural Fair itself.

“We are so thankful to East River Energy for allowing us to build these floats in their facility. As much as it is a competition among the schools, it is a community event that we all look forward to.” said the parent of a Cox School student.

“We are delighted to have the Guilford schools use the warehouse for the construction of these floats every year,” said George McQueeney, Service Manager and Energy Consultant for East River Energy. “When East River Energy was were first established in 1984, the business was built on the concept that we are a locally based company that is part of the community. After 25 years, those beliefs are still in place,” he added.

The Fair committee decides on a different theme for the floats yearly. This year’s theme was focused on autumn and farming. Competition is usually centered on 4th and 5th grades throughout the Guilford School system. Floats constructed at the East River Energy facility were from Guilford Lakes Elementary, A.W. Cox Elementary and Calvin Leete Elementary.
